How to use this?

I still haven't decided how I am going to use this blog, but I thought blogging would help.

Here are a few things that I think would be necessary in my blog / or that i'm considering

1) Audience. Public/Private. I'd prefer to have a private audience, but don't want to administer everytime I add someone
2) Long/ Short . If I could shorten the length of the blog it would be easier to upkeep and more inline with current day blogging habits
3) Video? Is there any way to include video?
4) Journal / Opinion / Both. Depending on my audience is there room for an opinion?

Will keep you updated but for now will sleep on them.

  1. It is really funny to see the way you are going about deciding this.

I would like to attempt to answer your questions...
    1) As long as you don't care much about all that page rank stuff and intentionally push your blog to the top of Google's search results, it is essentially private cause no one would ever stumble upon it. Of course, if you chose to share the address on FB all your FB friends would see it but I doubt any but a few interested souls would click over.
    2) Do a few long blogs if you like, it really doesn't matter to your readers (like me) whether you are consistent.
    3) Yes there is a way to include video, if you are not self hosted, by posting it on Youtube and then embedding it in your post. I haven't blogged on blogger for a while, can't remember if you can stick videos on like pictures but then again, blogger gives you limited storage for pictures too so if you are going to post loads of those you will someday need an external server storage like Flickr etc and since videos are larger in size and Youtube's free...
    4) I would love to see opinion posts, I write loads of those that hardly anyone reads, unfortunately... =)

    Welcome to the blogosphere!

  2. Thanks for the tips Japanese Doll!

Do you have a blog as well? I must check it out!

over the last few weeks the blog has evolved - it's almost like it has a mind of it's own! I like the concept alot but now want to do a multi-page blog which blogger can't do.

    do you have any suggestions?

  3. Wordpress has some limited multi page capabilities, in that you can create static pages (for e.g. if you want a static about you page that doesn't appear as a blog posting) in addition the the page that serves up all your blog postings. But customising Wordpress layout means paying, either for the right to customise or by self-hosting it and paying for the server costs.

So if you want to do it for free, and have multiple running blogs, you can use Blogger and just create variations on your main blog title e.g. WhatJonoAte.blogspot.com and link them up by giving each page the same layout and making sure they link back to each other. Quite easy to do but a little time consuming... is all.

p.s. I'm working on a new blog and it is a WIP with Wordpress. If you discover the address from my FB you are welcome to check it out (both the old Blogger blog and the new one). ;-)
